Human Resources Director

The Human Resources Director (HRD) serves as an integral member of the executive leadership team. This role is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that align with the Institute’s mission, vision and long-term goals. The HRD oversees all facets of human resources, including recruitment, training, workforce strategy and employee relations matters, while fostering collaboration across business units and maintaining confidentiality. This position is a driving force behind organizational culture, workforce performance and succession planning, ensuring the Institute remains agile in a dynamic environment. The HR Director reports to the Managing Director and advise on strategic workforce planning, talent development, labour-relations and organizational performance.

Responsibilities and Impact:

Oversee talent acquisition efforts to attract top talent and build a strong workforce.
Lead in the development and implementation of the Institute’s leadership programme and succession planning.
Lead in the development and implementation of the annual training plan
Oversee programs that enhance employee recognition, engagement, and retention.
Utilize HR analytics to provide actionable insights for decision-making and strategy development.
Represent the HR function in board-level discussions when required presenting findings and recommendations.
Review all human resources policies, procedures and practices and amend where necessary
Keep abreast of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes with the aim of adoption where they would lead to improvements and efficiencies in human resources services
Regularly review and benchmark compensation and benefits to maintain market competitiveness
Advise Management and staff on HR matters
Ensure payments and benefits to staff are processed correctly
Represent the Institute at meetings, conferences and other fora
Ensure timely completion of annual performance evaluations of all staff
Ensure employee grievances and disciplinary procedures are handled promptly and appropriately
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure HR effectiveness and organizational success.
Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate exposure to operational and employee relations risks

Education and Experience:

A Master Degree in Human Resources Management, MBA or related field from a recognized tertiary institution plus five (5) years managing at a senior level in human resources OR a Bachelor’s in Human Resources Management, Psychology or related field from a recognized tertiary institution plus ten (10) years of progressive experience in human resources management.
HRCI Professional in Human Resources International (PHRi) or Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification is required.
Proven expertise in workforce strategy, employee experience, talent management, labour relations, organizational design, and change management.
Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives while maintaining operational excellence, confidentiality and professionalism
Ability to inspire and lead cross functional teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.

Requirements:

Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations in The Bahamas
Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent analytical and managerial skills.
Self-motivated and results oriented.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
Proven track record in overseeing large projects.
