About BNSI
The Bahamas National Statistical Institute (BNSI) is the official national statistics agency responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating trusted, high-quality data for the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

The Bahamas National Statistical Institute (BNSI) was established to modernize, enhance, and centralize the collection and analysis of statistical data in The Bahamas, building on and expanding the work previously conducted by the Department of Statistics.

Data & Surveys
BNSI collects a wide range of national data, including but not limited to: population and housing statistics, economic indicators, employment and labour force data, health and education statistics, tourism data, trade statistics, and environmental information.
BNSI conducts various surveys, including the Labour Force Survey, the Household Expenditure Survey, the Business Establishment Survey, and specialized social and economic surveys.
The Population and Housing Census is a comprehensive count of all people and households in The Bahamas. It collects essential demographic, social, and economic information used for planning, resource allocation, and national development.

The Labour Force Survey measures employment, unemployment, and other work-related statistics, helping policymakers understand trends in the workforce and the overall economy.
The Household Expenditure Survey (HES) collects data on the spending habits of households across The Bahamas. It helps track living standards, consumer behavior, and economic conditions.

Update frequency varies by data category. For example, labour force surveys may be updated quarterly, trade statistics monthly, and major reports like the national census every ten years. Specific release schedules are published on our website.

All BNSI field representatives carry official identification badges and authorization letters. You can also call our office to verify any representative’s credentials.
BNSI is committed to maintaining strict confidentiality. All individual responses are protected by law and used solely for statistical purposes. Data is aggregated to ensure that no individual or household can be identified.
