The Bahamas National Statistical Institute is pleased to announce the release of its Consumer
Price Index, May 2025.

The Monthly Inflation Rate in The Bahamas, which represents the overall change in price for 2025,
decreased by 0.1 % when compared to April 2025. This change is reflected in the overall price of
items purchased by the average consumer during this period. This May 2025 decrease followed a
similar decrease between the months of March 2025 and April 2025.

On a month to month basis, the major decreases by Group included, Furnishing, Household
Equipment and routine household maintenance 0.4%, Miscellaneous Goods & Services 0.2%
along with Food and Non-Alcoholic beverages 0.2%.

As seen in the graph below, for May 2025, the CPI increased 0.4% when compared to this same
period last year.

The major categories that registered increases included Furnishing, Household
Equipment and routine household maintenance 15%, Clothing and Footwear 4.7% and Health
2.6%. Meanwhile, Transportation decreased 4.5%, when compared to this same period last y
