The Bahamas National Statistical Institute (BNSI) has released its Consumer Price Index (CPI) Report for February 2026, showing that inflation in The Bahamas increased by 0.95% month-over-month compared to January 2026 and 2.7% year-over-year compared to February 2025. The report measures changes in the average prices paid by households for goods and services across the country.
The largest monthly price increases were recorded in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (+2.7%), Transport (+0.6%), and Health (+0.5%). Meanwhile, the Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Narcotics category recorded the largest monthly decline, falling by 0.7%.
On an annual basis, the categories contributing most significantly to inflation were Restaurants and Hotels (+17.1%), Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (+8.5%), and Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (+5.1%). The report also noted that gasoline prices increased by 1.8% between January and February 2026, while diesel prices declined by 1.1% during the same period.
The February 2026 CPI report provides an important snapshot of inflationary trends in The Bahamas and serves as a key economic indicator for policymakers, businesses, investors and consumers monitoring changes in the cost of living.
