The Foreign Trade Statistics Annual Report 2025, published by the Bahamas National Statistical Institute (BNSI), provides a comprehensive overview of The Bahamas' international trade performance, including imports, exports, trade balances, major commodities, and principal trading partners. The report highlights trends in merchandise trade and offers detailed annual and quarterly data to support economic analysis and policymaking.
In 2025, the value of goods imported into The Bahamas reached $5.1 billion, representing a 3.3% increase over 2024. Machinery and Transport Equipment remained the largest import category at $1.4 billion, accounting for 27.7% of total imports, followed by Food and Live Animals at $855.6 million. Key imported commodities included diesel, unleaded gasoline, floating platforms, and jet fuel.
Total exports (including re-exports) amounted to $677.6 million, a 1.7% decrease compared to 2024. Domestic exports totaled $193.2 million, led by spiny lobster exports valued at $103.3 million and expansible polystyrene products valued at $45.7 million. Manufactured goods and machinery and transport equipment were the largest export categories overall.
The report also found that The Bahamas' trade deficit widened to $4.43 billion in 2025. The United States remained The Bahamas' dominant trading partner, accounting for 81.9% of imports and 82.4% of exports, underscoring the country's strong trade relationship with the U.S. market.
